Mission of the SER CDC
The purpose of SER Child Development Center is to help parents obtain their high school diploma or their GED diploma by providing child and developmental services to their children through a quality developmental program, which offers a nurturing and safe environment. Staff will guide and encourage interactions among children to provide opportunities for the development of social skills and intellectual growth. Parents will be recognized as major contributors in the development and education of their young children. Teachers will work in partnership with parents to build a mutual understanding and maximize the child’s opportunities for learning and building self-esteem.
Philosophy Statement
Young children learn through play; play is their work. Children learn best though hands-on experiences and active involvement with their environment. The goal of the center is to provide a safe, healthy and supportive environment where children can practice what they know about the world through play. Mouthing a toy, figuring out how a toy works, sharing a toy with a friend, exploring through touch, taking turns and asking for more information are all ways children learn through play. SER Child Development Center’s Coordinator, teachers and parents work together to create a harmonious environment for all children attending the program. The quality time spent with the parents and their children each day and the on-going care given by the teachers, make-up just the right complement for providing quality child care for each child.
Curriculum Statement
SER Child Development Center is committed to providing a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate to the age of the child. We base the curriculum on what the children are interested in and what they want to explore. Through play, children are able to make their own choices, explore and experiment at their own pace. The reason for a curriculum is to cover all aspects of children’s learning. SER promotes an active engagement of learning that is on-going throughout the day. Social, emotional, cognitive, gross and fine motor learning skills will be incorporated into each curriculum unit.
